BLUR Live at Big Sound Festival

It was a hysterical and lively concert. The sentence is quite enough to portray the Blur’s concert on last May 15th 2013 at Field D, Senayan.

Performing after the gigs of Van She, Tegan and Sara & The Temper Trap, Blur (Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree) appeared on 21.00 P.M., which made the venue was abruptly overwhelmed by choir of the spectators who sang along the opening song, ‘Girls and Boys’, which almost completely drown out the voice of Damon Albarn as the lead vocalist. The gig was carried on with other tracks; such as ‘Popscene’, ‘There’s No Other Way’, ‘Badhead’ and ‘Beetlebum’.

During the concert, howl and baritone (voice) of Damon Albarn, along with the distinctive solo guitar performance of Graham Coxon became two mainstays of their music formula that night, which constantly lavishing the British alternative style by their dynamics and simplicity.

Blur looks performed as maximum as they can, so they successfully satisfied the fans during the two-hour concert even compensated the flawed sound, that was heard at the beginning of the concert.

On the 9th song, Graham Coxon, who is acclaimed as one of 15 greatest guitarist in the last 30 years according to a polling organized by BBC, sang ‘Coffee & TV’, which was appeared in the 6th studio album, 13 (1999). The song was seemed to be a new stage to the concert that night, which was continued by ‘Country House’, ‘Parklife’ and ‘End of a Century’.

The tracks ‘Trimm Trabb’, ‘Caramel’ and ‘Tender’ successfully were amalgamated with the powerful atmosphere demonstrated by the band to thousands of fans, whose persistently sang and jumped all along the concert.

In the encore part, Blur delivered one of new tracks, “Under The Westway”. This is a new song which was written by the time the tickets of their reunion concert at London Hyde Park (closing ceremony of Olympic Game) in last 2009, were sold out. On about 23.00 P.M. Blur concluded their concert by the most heavy song, ‘Song 2′.
