Itta C.U.T.S
She wants to have a band with concept that is more “Rawk”, then she established C.U.T.S in 2007. At the fourth year of its journey, the name of Itta with this electro-clash band has been increasingly widely known. Even more, their performance has always been anticipated by music lovers and surely their fans (Super C.U.T.S), which not only in Bandung, the band’s hometown, but also other cities in Indonesia. Following is uncluster.com interview with Itta, who is also a student of Institut Teknologi Nasional (Itenas), Bandung.
Hello Itta, what is your concern now?
I’m busy by recording with C.U.T.S, arrange the song and those crazy lyrics, which will be continued by recording process. As at home, I’m preparing clothes’ patterns and sewing my own designed-clothes.
How is C.U.T.S?
C.U.T.S is now a company of guerillas, haha. We are now carrying on the recording process of our first album, which Insya Allah will be launched this year. We hope that our music works might be acceptable and obtain good responses from all of our friends. Amen.
Can you tell us in brief the beginning of C.U.T.S?
Before in C.U.T.S, I had once a band, which takes similar concept, but it was softer since there was one thing that made us carried on. However, I had another mission, which finally I kept on with a more “Rawk” concept, and asked my mates to join, and then eventually CUTS was founded.
Before C.U.T.S, was there a band you joined in?
Yup, during college time, I had bands in which I joined my campus mates (Design Dept., Itenas), among others are; Kuda Poni, Dorothy and Deborah, AGENTprovokateur, and the most recent, C.U.T.S.
In fact, what is the music you are fan of?
I am a fan of all kinds of music, no matter what the genre is. As long as the music can blend into my ear properly, I will listen to it, surely.
Your favorite vocalist?
(Female vocalist) Sharin Foo (The Raveonettes), Debby Harry (Blondie), Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Nico, Lily Allen, Lovefoxx and Arina (Mocca), and there are still many more.
What about favorite band?
For nowadays, I am a fan of The Raveonettes, since there is a little story behind. At the time they staged their concert in Bandung, C.U.T.S was the opening act. Every memory of it is well stored inside our heart.
Do you have any inspiration concerning style/ fashion?
For fashion, as long as I do not wear kemben (Indonesian traditional female’s shroud), anything would be fine.
How important is the music to you?
If anybody asks me about it, whew, the answer would be just like a right-shoe without left shoe. Ha ha.
As a vocalist, have you got any dream already complete?
Creating a music work and be listened, and anybody can sing it along as well as get by heart the song we made once we were on stage. It will be a special satisfaction to me.
And is there any incomplete?
Singing while playing guitar haha. I have already learnt it, but so far I haven’t managed it.
If you got a chance to do collaboration, whom do you prefer to perform with?
It would be making collaboration with my favorite Indonesian female singer, Rossa.
Do you have the most impressive and worst performance experience?
The most impressive one was on the same stage with Sharin Foo, as the worst one was wearing high heels while on stage.
