Grammy Awards 2012

Bertempat di Staples Center, Los Angeles, Grammy Awards 2012 telah digelar pada Minggu (12/2) malam waktu Amerika, atau Senin (13/2) pagi ini dengan host rapper James Todd Smith atau yang biasa di kenal dengan LL Cool J.

Dengan menampilkan serangkaian live perform beberapa musisi dan band, penghargaan musik dunia ini telah mencetuskan siapa saja penyanyi terbaik dunia. Dan seperti yang sudah diperkirakan, Adele menunjukkan dominasinya di ajang Grammy Awards 2012, dimana lagu ‘Rolling In The Deep’ miliknya, dinobatkan sebagai Song of The Year.

Selain Adele, ada Foo Fighters di ajang Grammy Awards ke-54, yang meraih 4 piala dari 6 nominasi. Karya Foo Fighters yang berjudul ‘Walk’ menjadi jawara untuk kategori Best Rock Song mengalahkan ‘The Cave’ milik Mumford & Sons, ‘Down By The Water’ (The Decemberist), ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ (Coldplay) dan ‘Lotus Flower’ (Radiohead). Selain itu Dave Grohl cs juga menyabet penghargaan untuk Best Rock Album lewat Wasting Light dan berhasil menyingkirkan Jeff Beck dengan album Rock ‘N’ Roll Party Honoring Les Paul, Kings of Leon (Come Around Sundown), Red Hot Chili Peppers, (I’m With You), dan Wilco (Wilco).

Yang berbeda pada Grammy tahun ini adalah adanya penghargaan musik khusus mengenang mendiang Whitney Houston, sekaligus memperingati enam kali dimenangkannya penghargaan oleh Houston.

Houston meninggal pada Sabtu (11/2) atau tepatnya menjelang penyelenggaraan Grammy ke-54, pada usia 48 tahun dan diperkirakan karena penggunaan narkoba.
